Custom Clinical Facials and Peels
Vitale’s clinical facials and peels deliver
visible change for those seeking exceptional
skin rejuvenation. Using some of the best
available medical-grade products together
with comprehensive extraction and peeling
techniques, customization is a key to
delivering optimum aesthetic results.
Whether you are challenged with acne,
blackheads, age spots, oily or dry skin, or
acne scarring, we will work with your
biology to find the remedy.
Our specially formulated medical-grade
"lunchtime" skin peels measurably improve
the appearance of the skin and allow
patients to immediately apply make-up and
continue with their usual activities. Facial
peels remove the outer, “dead” layers of the
skin or epidermis. This allows the epidermis
to become more permeable to nutrients.
Chemical peels dissolve the bonds between
cells, making the wall more porous further
increasing product intake by the dermis. The
peel smoothes skin texture, decreases the
appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,
tightens skin, & helps to minimize the
appearance of acne discoloration and
scarring. Results are visible immediately
but repeated treatments are necessary for
full effect. A specific chemical peel will
be chosen depending on your skin’s balance
(oiliness, dryness, etc) to help balance its
pH (acidity).
These medical-grade chemical peels are great
additions to microdermabrasion and can be
performed in the same session. The peels are
only available under physician supervision.
Reversal is six treatments, maintenance every three to six months
Who can benefit from acid peels?
Superficial acid peels can be performed on
patients of all Fitzpatrick skin types with
good results. Contraindications are few.
However, acid peels should not be performed
on any patient with known history of
dermatologic disorders that manifest in skin
sensitivity, any patient with known
sensitivity and/or allergy to any component
of the peeling agent, and all patients who
have unrealistic expectations and are known
to be non-compliant with at-home
management and treatment specifications.

What can I expect
after the chemical peel treatment?
Shortly after the application of the peeling
agent, most people experience a transient
stinging sensation. This sensation may be
mild or intense. Each patient is different
and will have a unique experience. The use
of a small fan during the treatment helps
some patients feel more comfortable. The
procedure may be mildly to moderately
uncomfortable for most patients, but is
rarely painful. After the peel, the patient
may experience mild to moderate erythema and
edema for 6 to 24 hours post peel. Mild
erythema may persist until healing is
complete. Healing may take up to seven days with
mild to moderate flaking and/or peeling of
the treated areas. It may be necessary to
schedule a series of treatments for the
patient to see the maximum benefit from this
type of resurfacing.
What kind of complications can be
expected?
Complications from superficial peeling
agents are rare. The most common side
effects of peeling agents may include
persistent erythema, irritation and
increased sensitivity. Less common is hyper
pigmentation. These side effects are usually
transient. It is imperative that patients
follow the prescribed at-home care regimen.
This will minimize the potential risk of
infection and maximize the benefits of the
procedure. |
